Fix your Facebook Page business details

Switch into your business Page, open About, then Details, and edit the address, hours and contact information so they match your official version. Move the map pin when you change the address, because Facebook requires it. If there's no Hours section, change the Page category. Only people with Facebook access to the Page can edit it.

The short version

  • Switch into your Page first: your profile photo, then See all profiles, then the Page.
  • Go to About, then Details, to edit address, hours and contact info.
  • When you change the address, drag the map pin too. Facebook says you must.
  • No Hours section? Change your Page category.
  • Changing the address also updates the Instagram map.

How do I update my Page details?

Facebook’s menus vary a little between the app and a computer. These steps follow Facebook’s Help Center as of October 31, 2026. The help pages don’t say which Page layout they describe, so if a label differs on your screen, look for the nearest match.

Switch into the Page

  1. Select your profile photo at the top right.
  2. Select See all profiles, then choose your business Page.

Change the address

From Facebook’s address guide:

  1. On your Page, select About, then Details.
  2. Next to Address, edit the street, town and postal code.
  3. Drag the red pin on the map to your real front door. Facebook says “You must move the pin to complete this step correctly.”
  4. Select Save.

Afterward, view the Page as a visitor would and check the address and map read correctly.

Change the hours

From Facebook’s hours guide:

  1. Select About, then Details, then Hours.
  2. Choose Open on selected hours, then Add hours for each day.
  3. Save.

If you don’t see Hours, Facebook says your Page category may not support them. Change the category, then try again.

Change the category

From Facebook’s category guide:

  1. Select About, then Category, then Edit.
  2. Select the pencil icon and choose the category that best describes the business.
  3. Select Save.

Facebook says there’s no limit on how often you can change the category, so you can correct a poor choice any time.

Phone, email and website

Facebook’s basic information page covers contact details: phone, email, website and social links. In the app, tap Edit, then the pencil next to each field. Use your main phone number and your website’s real address, not a link shortener.

Why does the Facebook Page matter?

Many people check a local business on Facebook before they call, especially for hours, photos and recent posts. If the Page shows old hours or a disconnected phone, they’ll often believe it over your website. Facebook also says that changing the address updates the Instagram map, so one edit fixes two places.

What are the common mistakes and edge cases?

  • Two Pages for one business. Often an old Page from years ago, or a check-in place customers made. Keep one, and fix or close the other.
  • A personal profile used as the business. A business should have a Page, managed from people’s own accounts.
  • Nobody can get in. The Page was set up by someone who left. Facebook access belongs to people, so add at least two trusted people with full control.
  • Hours that ignore holidays. Post a short update for one-off closures, and keep regular hours as they are.
  • A tracking phone number on the Page that’s different from everywhere else.
  • The pin left in the old spot after an address change, so directions still go to the old place.

What if this didn’t work?

  • You can’t edit the Page at all. You may not have full control. Ask whoever has full control to give you access. If nobody can, Facebook’s Help Center is the place to start.
  • The address won’t save. Move the pin. Facebook won’t complete the change until you do.
  • Hours aren’t shown to visitors. Check the category supports hours, and that you chose Open on selected hours.
  • A second, unofficial Page shows your business. Report it to Facebook using the report option on that Page, and keep a screenshot.

How much does it cost, and how long does it take?

A Facebook Page is free. Updating the details takes about 15 minutes. Check the public Page afterward to confirm each change took.
