Set up your email on an iPhone or Android phone

Suggestions appear as you type. Use the up and down arrows to choose one, or press Enter to ask.

On an iPhone, open Settings, Apps, Mail, Mail Accounts, then Add Account. On Android, open the Gmail app, tap your picture, then Add another account. For E-3 email choose IMAP with mail.e3webmail.com as both servers; for Microsoft 365 or Google, pick that provider and sign in. Then test both ways.

What are the E-3 email settings for my phone?

SettingWhat to enter
Account typeIMAP (not POP)
Incoming server (host name)mail.e3webmail.com
Incoming port and security993, SSL/TLS
Outgoing server (SMTP)mail.e3webmail.com
Outgoing port and security587, STARTTLS (465 with SSL/TLS also works)
Outgoing server needs sign-inYes, same username and password as incoming
UsernameYour full email address

Use mail.e3webmail.com, not mail.yourdomain.com. The server’s security certificate is issued to mail.e3webmail.com, so your own domain causes a certificate warning.

What do I need first?

  • Your full email address and password. If webmail rejects the password, see reset your email password before touching the phone.
  • Which service you’re on. E-3 email, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. E-3 email: start here shows how to tell.
  • For E-3 email: the settings below.

How do I set up email on an iPhone or iPad?

These steps follow Apple’s guide, Add an email account to your iPhone or iPad. On older iOS versions the path starts at Settings, Mail, Accounts instead.

Microsoft 365 or Google

  1. Open Settings, tap Apps, then Mail, then Mail Accounts.
  2. Tap Add Account.
  3. Choose Microsoft Exchange for Microsoft 365, or Google for Google Workspace.
  4. Enter your address, sign in, and approve any two-step check.
  5. Choose what to sync and tap Save.

E-3 email (manual IMAP)

  1. Open Settings, Apps, Mail, Mail Accounts, then Add Account.
  2. Tap Other, then Add Mail Account.
  3. Enter your name, email address, password and a description, such as your business name. Tap Next.
  4. If Mail can’t find the settings itself, choose IMAP.
  5. Under Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server, type mail.e3webmail.com as the host name, your full email address as the username, and your password. The outgoing server needs the same username and password.
  6. Tap Next, then Save.

Expected result: the new account appears in the Mail app’s mailbox list, and your Inbox fills.

The iPhone usually picks the ports itself. If sending fails, check the outgoing server’s port (587) and that SSL is on in the account’s advanced settings.

The short version

  • E-3 email is added as IMAP, with mail.e3webmail.com as both incoming and outgoing server.
  • Check your password in webmail first, and finish with a test: send, reply, and see the reply arrive.

How do I set up email on an Android phone?

Most Android phones use the Gmail app for every email account. These steps follow Google’s guide, Add other email accounts to Gmail. The server settings are E-3’s, but we haven’t tested these exact screens on every Android phone, and menus vary by maker. If yours looks different or it doesn’t connect, call 814-399-4655 and we’ll set it up with you.

  1. Open the Gmail app and tap your profile picture at the top right.
  2. Tap Add another account.
  3. For Google Workspace, tap Google. For Microsoft 365, tap the Outlook or Exchange option your phone shows. For E-3 email, tap Other.
  4. Enter your full email address and tap Next.
  5. For E-3 email, choose Personal (IMAP), then enter your password.
  6. Incoming server: mail.e3webmail.com, port 993, security type SSL/TLS.
  7. Outgoing server: mail.e3webmail.com, port 587, security type STARTTLS (or 465 with SSL/TLS). Keep Require sign-in turned on.
  8. Follow the prompts to finish.

Expected result: the account shows when you tap your profile picture, and mail starts to arrive.

Never set the security type to “None.” Google’s guide notes this sends your connection unencrypted. Some phones, such as Samsung models, ship their own Email app. The idea is the same: IMAP and E-3’s settings, with different menu names.

How do I test that it works?

  1. From the phone, send a message to a different address you own, such as a personal Gmail.
  2. Confirm it arrived. Sending works.
  3. Reply from that other address.
  4. Confirm the reply reaches your phone. Receiving works.
  5. Open webmail on a computer and check the test is in Sent Items. With IMAP it should be.

Why does this matter?

A phone is where most people first notice an email problem. When a phone “stops working” after an upgrade, the reason is often simple: the new phone was never set up, or it was set up with old saved settings. Doing it once, carefully, and testing it saves a missed customer email later.

What are the common mistakes and edge cases?

  • Picking POP. SmarterTools explains that POP downloads mail to one device (Synchronizing with SmarterMail). Your phone and computer then stop matching. Use IMAP.
  • Wiping the old phone too soon. If the old phone used POP, some mail may exist only there. Check webmail before you reset or trade in the old phone.
  • A certificate or “Cannot verify server identity” warning. Don’t tap Continue or Trust to make it go away, and don’t turn security off. Check both servers say mail.e3webmail.com, not mail.yourdomain.com. If it still appears, call us.
  • Receives but won’t send. Apple’s page on sending problems points to the outgoing server settings. Check the outgoing server is mail.e3webmail.com, port 587, and that it has your username and password.
  • New mail arrives late. Apple’s receiving guide covers Fetch and Push settings. Some accounts only check every so often to save battery.

What if this didn’t work?

  • Password keeps being rejected: sign in to webmail at mail.e3webmail.com with the same password. If webmail fails too, you need a password reset.
  • Mail is in webmail but not on the phone: the phone is the problem, not your mailbox. Remove and re-add the account, but only after checking webmail has everything.
  • Still stuck: call 814-399-4655 with your phone model, iOS or Android version and the exact error. If you send a screenshot, cover your contacts and message text first. Never include a password.

How does E-3 handle this?

All E-3 mailboxes share the settings in the table above. If you’d rather not do it alone, call us. Never send your password by email. Phone 814-399-4655 or email support@e3help.me.
