Kay’s Act II is a dance studio in Trevose, Pennsylvania, serving the greater Philadelphia area since 1980. The studio offers more than seventy classes a week for dancers from age two through high school, from recreational classes through nationally competitive training, plus tumbling.
What the site has to do
A studio site has one main job: help a parent go from “my child wants to dance” to “we’re registered” without a phone call they don’t have time for. That means answering the first questions clearly. Which classes suit my child’s age? When do they meet? Who teaches them? How do I sign up?
The site also has to work for current families. They need a quick way to log in, check the schedule and find the dress code, without hunting through pages meant for newcomers.
What’s on the site
- A confident homepage that leads with the studio’s history: “Forty-six years of first steps.”
- A rolling banner with the season’s key facts: registration open, the first day of classes, seventy-plus classes a week, ages two through high school.
- A “How old is your dancer?” section that points families to the right starting place.
- Pages for classes and schedule, tumbling, the studio, faculty, photos and video, and contact.
- A Register button and a parent login in the header, on every page.
- A footer with the studio’s address, phone number and social links.
The design is bold and modern, with large type and bright accents, and it holds up on a phone: the mobile view keeps the headline, the class finder and the schedule button within easy reach.
What E-3 did
E-3 designed and built the current site: a static build made with Astro and served through Cloudflare. A static site has no database or plugins running behind each page, so there’s very little to patch, and pages are simple for the server to deliver.
That suits a studio site. Most of what changes from season to season is content: class times, the registration date, the first day of classes and new photos. The structure, from the class finder to the register button, stays put, so families who come back each year find things where they left them.
