Websites for events and competitions that keep up with your season.
Dance and talent competitions are one of the biggest groups of sites we look after, alongside golf and sports events, youth sports, camps, stables and dog training. Schedules change constantly, registration has to work under pressure, and the site needs to feel as energetic as the brand.
What usually goes wrong
- Schedules and tour dates changing weekly
- Registration rushes that strain the site
- Lots of sites and brands to keep consistent
- Heavy video and photo pages
How we help
- Fast updates to schedules and results
- Monitoring and speed work for busy seasons
- Consistent updates across many related sites
- Video and photos optimized for phones
Questions owners in events and competitions ask
- My PageSpeed score is low. Should I worry? Not on its own. The 0 to 100 score is a lab test on one simulated phone, and it moves between runs. What matters more is the real-visitor section above it: if your Core Web Vitals pass there, most real visitors are fine. If they fail, or there's no field data, fix the largest items the report lists first.
- How often should I update my website content?Change facts the day they change: hours, holiday closures, services, staff and phone numbers. Read your main pages as a customer would every few months. Add a new useful page when you have something real to say, which for many small businesses is once or twice a month. Changing dates or words just to look fresh doesn't help.
- What does website maintenance actually include?Real website maintenance covers four jobs: tested updates to WordPress, themes and plugins; backups you can actually restore; monitoring for downtime and security problems; and quick fixes and small edits. Hosting is different. It's the server your site lives on. A business site needs both, and most hosts don't do the upkeep.
