Hosting and security
Updates, backups and moving your site to E-3.
Suggestions appear as you type. Use the up and down arrows to choose one, or press Enter to ask.
- Can you move my website to your hosting?Yes. E-3 moves WordPress sites onto its managed hosting, with SSL, and can move business email too. A move copies the site's files and database to the new server, and you approve the plan and a preview before your domain is switched. Your domain can stay where it is registered.
- Do you keep my WordPress site and plugins updated?Yes. On sites in E-3's website care, WordPress, plugins and themes get tested updates: each one is tried on a staging copy before it reaches the live site. If you manage your own site, back up first, update one item at a time and check your key pages and forms after each one.
- How do I shut down my website without losing my email?Work in this order: back the site up, keep the domain's DNS and email records working, put up a notice page or redirect, then end hosting. Your email depends on the domain, not the website, so keep the domain registered for as long as anyone uses an address on it.
- Is my website backed up, and can you restore it?Sites in E-3's website care are backed up daily, so a recent copy is there to go back to when something goes wrong. If someone else hosts your site, ask them when the last successful backup ran, whether it holds both files and database, where it's stored, and how far back it goes.
