Can I embed a widget or code from another service on my website?
Suggestions appear as you type. Use the up and down arrows to choose one, or press Enter to ask.
Usually, yes. Copy the embed code the service gives you, then in WordPress add a Custom HTML block where it belongs, paste the code and save. Only Administrators and Editors can save scripts and iframes on a standard site. Only paste code from services you trust, and check the page on a phone afterward.
How do I add embed code to a page?
- Get the code. In the other service (booking, reviews, forms and so on), look for Embed, Share or Website widget and copy the code.
- Open the page. In WordPress, go to Pages, hover over the page and select Edit.
- Add a Custom HTML block. Select the + button and choose Custom HTML, or type /html and press Enter.
- Paste the code. Select Edit HTML, paste, check the preview on the right, then select Update.
- Save and check. Save the page and open it on a computer and a phone.
- Expected result: the widget works on the live page and fits the screen.
These steps follow WordPress’s Custom HTML block guide.
The short version
- Paste the service’s embed code into a Custom HTML block, then save and check it on a phone.
- Only paste code from a service you trust. Code that goes on every page (like a tracking script) belongs in a site-wide setting, not one page.
Do I even need code?
For many services, no. Add an Embed block and paste a link from YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify or another supported service, and WordPress shows the content. Its Embeds guide lists the supported services. Try the link first, and use the Custom HTML block only when the service gives you code.
Why did my code disappear when I saved?
WordPress removes scripts and iframes from content saved by users who lack a permission called unfiltered_html. On a standard site, only Administrators and Editors have it. On a WordPress multisite network, only Super Admins do, per WordPress’s roles guide. The Custom HTML guide says that for other users, tags like <script> and <iframe> are stripped on save. Ask someone with the right role to add it, or see who has access to your site.
Is it safe?
Embed code runs on your site, so it can do anything the service wants it to. Before you paste:
- Use only the service’s own code, copied from your signed-in account. Never paste code sent by a stranger or a “support” email.
- Remove what you stop using. Old widgets slow pages down and keep sending visitor data to that service.
- Check your privacy policy. Some widgets set cookies or collect data, which you may need to mention.
What if this didn’t work?
- The code shows as text: it went into a Paragraph block. Move it to a Custom HTML block.
- The widget is too wide on phones: the service may offer a “responsive” option. See why my site looks wrong on phones.
- Nothing shows: some services only work on the domains you list in their settings. Add your website’s address there.
- Beaver Builder pages: use its HTML module instead of a block. Beaver Builder’s HTML module page notes some services also need a script added under Custom Scripts.
How does E-3 handle this?
Send us the code, or the service’s instructions, and the page through Request a change. A person at E-3 adds it, and bigger changes are tested on a staging copy first. Call 814-399-4655 or email support@e3help.me.
